TROOP 205 "Life is Good"

NEW TROOP FORMS IN PLOVER WISCONSIN During the summer of 2006, parents from Cub Scout Pack 205 began the process of starting up a new Boy Scout Troop. Pack 205 has a long history of being a quality unit and maintaining good number of scouts. With rapid growth in the Plover area, there was a growing need for a new troop. In December of 2006, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church broadens its charter of a Cub Scout pack to include the newly formed Troop 205. While the troop is still young, we have a great group of kids and adults to guide us into the future. JOIN THE SCOUTING EXPERIENCE Boy Scouting is a year-round program for boys age 11 - 17. Boys who are 10 may join if they have received the Arrow of Light Award or have finished the fifth grade. Boy Scouting is a program of fun outdoor activities, peer group leadership opportunities, and a personal exploration of career, hobby and special interests, all designed to achieve the BSA's objectives of strengthening character, personal fitness and good citizenship. Troop 205 is open to any youth within central Wisconsin. MEETING INFORMATION Troop 205 meets on Monday evenings during the school year. Most meeting are held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church but on occasion, we utilize the gym at the Boys and Girls Club of Portage County. We ask that all scouts attend at least 70% of the meetings as this time is used for advancements, planning outings, and working on leadership skills. Scouts need to wear either their class A or B uniform to all meetings. Scout Handbooks should be brought in order for leaders to sign off on achievements. OUTINGS The troop routinely plans outings that involve camping, fun events, service project and fundraising events. Activities are decided and planed by the boys. It is the goal of the Troop to complete one activity per month. Each summer, the Troop attends Camp Tesomas. This week long camp allows scouts the opportunity to advance in rank or complete merit badge work. The troop holds fundraising events in fall to allow scouts the opportunity to earn money for summer camp. Scouts are required to maintain an up-to-day class one medical form and contact list with the troop. This will be required before any scout is permitted to attend an outing. SCOUTING BUILDS STRONG ADULTS The scouting program has a strong history of developing leaders and instilling good values in our youth. For your son to succeed, he will need your support, encouragement, and understanding. There are many opportunities within the Troop for your help. They range from organizing event to teaching your skills and hobbies the scouts. Please take the time to see how you could help or influence the Scouts of Troop 205.
